On June 27th, we hosted our second New England Community Summit at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, MA. Our largest summit to date, the event brought together 100 ACO, post-acute, payer, and community providers from all over the region for a day of networking, best practices, and product updates with the goal of further connecting PatientPing’s diverse New England network.
We opened the morning with coffee and breakfast, along with some fun PatientPing swag at the registration table. Everyone took their seats and settled in for opening remarks led by our co-founder and CEO, Jay Desai.
Jay kicked off the event by emphasizing the importance of bringing our community together in person to facilitate discussions and idea-sharing. After taking a look at how far we’ve come since our two-person team back in 2013, Jay shared what we consider to be our “true north”–to enable healthcare communities to deliver the highest quality and efficient care possible–which has remained consistent since the beginning.

Following the opening remarks, our VP of product, Dave Rodger, took the stage to talk about our product vision. Attendees got an inside look at our product roadmap and a deep dive into exciting updates and features to come. Dave reviewed our most recent product releases, and opened the floor to questions and feedback from users.
After a quick break, we dove into our Community Panel Q&A, moderated by Dr. Namita Seth Mohta, VP, head of clinical, and Julia Sanders, our operations director. The six panelists–Dr. Dhruva Kothari from Commonwealth Care Alliance, Kelly Halkyard from Community Health Center Association of Connecticut, Lisa Kippax from Elder Services of Worcester Area, Judi Gaudet from Generations Family Health Center, Patricia Seidel from New England Quality Care Alliance, and Georgia Pelletier from Value Care Alliance–began by discussing the importance of care coordination, challenges they’ve faced in the shift to value-based care, as well as what lies ahead in the ever-changing healthcare landscape.
Panelists also discussed other pressing healthcare topics such as patient-provider engagement, and how data can be used to effectively build out preferred networks. The discussion closed out with a round robin, sparking great conversations among the audience.
Shortly after, Stacy Boron and Cheryl Pascucci from Baystate Franklin Medical Center, alongside Charity Day from LifePath, opened our Community Spotlight Session. The topic for this discussion focused on readmission prevention. They shared an initiative they call the Readmissions Collaborative, a monthly meeting where key stakeholders come together to look back at different patient cases to gather context around which patient types are often associated with readmissions, and how best to fill gaps in care.
The day came to a close with final remarks from our New England community team members; Julia Sanders, Cindy Lin, senior operations lead, and Sarah Wigman, market operations lead. Prior to leaving, users stayed to enjoy lunch, network with fellow community members, and take pictures in front of our PatientPing photo booth.
